The Japanese movie "Goemon" is based on the life of Ishikawa Goemon a legendary 16th century ninja warrior and bandit who stole valuables and gave them to the poor. There is little historical information on Goemon's life, and thus he has become a folk hero, whose background and origins have been widely speculated upon. Maki Horikita new drama Atashinchi no Danshi, is about Chisato Mineda (Maki Horikita) is a homeless girl who sleeps in public parks and internet cafes. Chisato's mother died when she was a young girl and her father's current whereabouts are unknown. Her father was a chronic gambler and racked up huge amounts of debt. After her father left town the debt became attached to Chisato.

One day Chisato comes across an eccentric older man named Shinzo Okura. Shinzo is the president of a large corporation and offers to pay off Chisato's debt if she agrees to marry him. Chisato takes up Shinzo's offer and then becomes part of the very unusual Okura family. Shinzo currently has six adopted sons who all live at home. The six adopted sons have their own quirky personalities (one is a magician, another is a genius, another is a model, another is host) and they are all handsome. They also have their own complexes and traumas. Then, Shinzo suddenly dies and leaves Chisato as the stepmother to these six young men.
